We have worked hard to bring the Kinetic Assistant to the new level, and partially succeed. Unfortunately, current API and MSFS limitations does not allow Kinetic to fully control AI aircraft, but we have reached some acceptable level of towing by AI.
Two modes available – immediate take off, which can be used anywhere, and taxiing together with a tow plane. Both are quite limited so please read the description carefully. We are going to improve AI behavior but that will take some time to find proper ways to do it. At the moment, towing by live pilot is preferable and strongly recommended to try at least once!
Rope calculation improved as well so you will have better experience now both with winch and towing.
Several issues fixed: compatibility with CJ4 mod and thermals CSV files reading error.

9 feedbacks on Kinetic Assistant moving forward!
I should say, I got it running once yesterday.
Hello Alex,
I installed the DG Flugxeugbau DG-808S glider and found that by pressing CTRL-E or F3, I think it is, that it will take off on its own as if it is being towed….without the plane assist found in Kinetic Assistant. Is there a list of commands for that glider, perhaps a tow rope release? I do not see the release handle like you would see in a real glider. As you know, MSFS 2020 has no glider functions yet.
Thanks!
This glider has “phantom” engine. This is not a winch simulation, just alternative way to take off. When you get enough altitude, press Ctrl+Shift+E, or red ENGINE button on front panel to turn it off.
If you’ll use Kinetic Assistant (I guess you still can’t) – on front panel there Winch and Towplane switches, and at the bottom – yellow tow release handle. But again, it work only together with KA.
Also Alex,
Should I boot Kinetic Assistant or MSFS 10 first….or does it matter? I have tried both.
David
Launch kinetic after you appear on the runway, or anytime during the flight. Press CONNECT button but I suppose this is obvious.
Hello Alex,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I got it running yesterday. (very nice). So I don’t think it is C++.
Do you have another idea?
Thanks,
David
Honestly, no I don’t.
So what really happen when you click EXE file. Nothing, or window pop up for the moment?
If you are familiar with Windows Administration tools, you can check .NET errors logs in applications section – maybe some clue about missing library will be there.
Another advice – in EXE parameters ensure no Compatibility feature enabled (like Windows 7 or 8). Also you can try to run it as administrator but unlikely it will change anything.
I cannot get Kinetic Assistant to boot. Does it go in the Community folder or a different folder? Is there any sort of trick to getting it to unzip? What is the name of the folder I should be using?
No, it should be unpacked in any folder outside of Community.
No tricks, unpack and run EXE. Most common issue – Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable is not installed.
